HOPE

January 31, 2010

Hey guys, hope this e-mail finds everybody healthy, happy and warm! First, in honor of the great yearly “event” The Super Bowl, the quiz this week will be about trivia from past Super Bowls. We will get back to health and fitness next week…promise. Now, as I sit in my office this very cold day in January, hoping that the weather warms up, I ponder about the word “hope”. I don’t believe “hope” is all that it’s cracked up to be. It’s one thing to hope for warmer weather, because if it doesn’t arrive …no big deal. But it’s the bigger and more important things that we may hope for that bother me especially when it comes to health and fitness. Hoping to get healthier and fitter just doesn’t cut it. There are two sides of this “coin”. The hope side and the achievement side. Both are fueled by one thing..ACTION! You can hold hope in your heart but it will eventually wither away if it is not given big spoonfuls of action. The lack of action can be attributed to one of our most primal emotions…FEAR. Fear can lead us to act in many different directions which are good and necessary for our survival, but fear can also lead us in a direction that obviates our goals and ambitions. In general people are afraid to fail and thus don’t want to start on a new, unknown quest toward their goals of fitness or losing weight. I’m no life coach, Edna is. So if you need help overcoming this fear, ask Edna for help and support. I’m sure she will be more than anxious to help. Me, well all I can say about fear is “GET OVER IT” Of course that’s why I’m no life coach. Success has less to do with what happens in your life and more to do about how you react. What do you really have to be afraid of? We all fail. Failure is how we learn successfully. Come on, step off the ledge let’s get fit together, we are here to help each other…
