Cancer is a scary word. Almost everyone knows someone who has contracted cancer of some sort. But do you know what cancer is? In its simplest explanation, cancer is a disease that has to do with cells. There are billions of cells in our body. Cancer happens when cells that are not normal (mutated) grow and spread very fast. Normal cells grow and divide in our body and know when to stop growing and over time die. Unlike normal cells, cancer cells just continue to grow and divide out of control and don’t die when they are supposed to. These cancer cells usually clump together to form tumors. These tumors can destroy the healthy cells living around the tumor. Many times cancer cells break away from the original tumor and travel to another area of the body and continue to grow there, this event is called metastasis. It can to take a while for a doctor to determine cancer in the body because the symptoms manifested can be very general. Cancer is usually treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation. Johns Hopkins hospital has given us these updates on cancer:
Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. Before this, they are just not detectable.
When a person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells can be destroyed and prevented from multiplying. (more on the immune system in another e-mail)
Cancer is indicative that a person has multiple nutritional deficiencies, these can be due to environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
To overcome these deficiencies, changing ones diet including supplementation will strengthen the immune system.
Chemotherapy involves poisoning rapidly growing cancer cells, but can cause organ damage to the liver, kidneys, heart, and lungs.
Radiation also burns and scars healthy cells, tissues, and organs.
Initial chemotherapy and radiation treatment will often reduce tumor size, however prolonged use does not result in more tumor destruction.
When the body has too much toxic burden from chemo and radiation the immune system is then compromised and various infections may occur.
An effective way to battle cancer cells is to starve the cancer cells by NOT feeding it with foods it needs to multiply.
These foods are: SUGAR, SUGAR SUBSTITUTES, TABLE SALT, MEAT BASED DIETS, COFFEE, HI FAT FOODS,ALCOHOL.
I write about eating clean every week. Here is another reason, if not the most compelling for you to start to eat clean.
Eating clean and supplementing can strengthen your cancer fighting immune system. Are you prone to getting colds often? More than twice a year is often. If you are then you are a candidate to strengthen your immune system. More later…Robert
